New Jersey Community Raises Thousands to Send Beloved School Bus Driver to See His Team in the Super Bowl

A New Jersey community raised over $5,000 to send a beloved school bus driver who is a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan to the Super Bowl, The Associated Press reports.

A group of parents and their kids surprised Gary Kelmer with the gift when he completed his route Monday.

Amy and Izaak Smith told the AP they wanted to raise money to thank “Mr. Gary” for his kindness to their kids.

They started a GoFundMe campaign to send Kelmer and his wife to Minneapolis and raised over $5,000 within just a few days.

“He’s just a wonderful human being,” Amy Smith told the Burlington County Times. “We’re so blessed to have him as a bus driver, because he truly loves his job.”

The Smiths used the money to buy the couple tickets, airline tickets, and even personalized jerseys.

“I’m ecstatic,” Kelmer said, calling it a “special dream come true.”

Kelmer has been a school bus driver for 26 years, Today reports.

“I’m just seeing this and Mr. Gary was my bus driver almost 20 years ago!” a woman named Chelsea Gray wrote on the GoFundMe page. “I live in Vegas now and still tell people about my Eagles loving bus driver that taught me the fight song in middle school!”
