This Dog Made a 20-Mile Journey to Return to Family Who Had to Give Her Up for Adoption – Twice

An Oklahoma dog just can’t give up the family he loves even though they can’t keep her, BuzzFeed News reports.

Cathleen, a six-year-old Great Pyrenees mix, was put up for adoption after her family moved into a home without a fenced yard.

Cathleen was adopted by a family that lived about 20 miles away in the town of Prague, Oklahoma.

But Cathleen wasn’t ready to give up, and walked 20 miles to her original owners’ home, the Seminole Humane Society says.

“I haven’t seen anything like this before,” shelter manager Rebecca Acker told BuzzFeed. “She’s probably traveled the most out of all our dogs.”

After Cathleen was returned, she wandered out again and ended up in her original owners’ neighborhood.

Marta Mattingly, who works for the Humane Society, lives three blocks from the original owners’ home and spotted the pup.

“I thought it was my neighbor’s dog. I tried to get her, but I couldn’t, so I called Animal Control,” she said.

“Her heart wants to be with them but they cannot keep her,” the shelter said on Facebook.

Cathleen is back up for adoption and after her story went viral the shelter has gotten calls from as far as North Carolina by families looking to adopt her.
