WATCH: MLB Prospect Brings His Parents to Tears, Surprises Them by Paying Off Their Mortgage for Christmas

A newly drafted Major League Baseball prospect gave his parents an incredible surprise for Christmas, Inside Edition reports.

Earlier this year, 21-year-old first baseman Pavin Smith was drafted early in the first round of the MLB amateur draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, landing a $5 million signing bonus.

Smith posted a video of his parents finding out he had secretly paid off their mortgage.

“Thank you for raising me in a great home filled with love,” he wrote in the letter. “Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be yours.”

Smith made his professional debut earlier this year with the Diamondbacks’ Class-A minor league team, where he batted .318 with 27 RBIs in 42 games.
